Bridge To Volunteering

The Hunter Volunteer Centre has a mission statement: To promote, encourage and empower volunteers in their contributions to the community and support and resource organizations in their utilisation of volunteers, for the benefit of all.

As a part of our endeavour to uphold this statement we carry out education sessions for all volunteers referred through our centre. These one-hour sessions will be the most important step for you to take after your decision to volunteer. It will empower you to make the right choice.

Objective

Participants will gain a basic knowledge of volunteering, be empowered to volunteer and understand the basic principals of Duty of Care, Confidentiality and Occupational Health and Safety practices.

What does it mean to be a volunteer?
What types of volunteering opportunities are on offer?
The rights and responsibilities of volunteers and volunteer organisations.
Occupational health and safety.
Issues relating to insurance.
Duty of care.
Confidentiality.
Self care.

Times

Bridge to Volunteering sessions are held every Tuesday from 11:00am until 01:00pm. Bookings are not necessary.
